Kirklees councillors to decide Tour de France cash

Councillors in Kirklees will today decide how much money to put towards the Tour de France.
The costs of the sporting extravaganza’s Yorkshire stint – which passes through Kirklees on stage two – is almost £21 million, with £11 million from local authorities and £10 million from the Government.
The cost of mounting the Kirklees stage is £850,469, with £629,397 expected from Kirklees Council and £221,072 from the Government.
Last week, Bradford Council agreed to put £731,000 towards the cost.
