Police appeal after Bradford man dies following Yorkshire Dales crash
Police are appealing for witnesses after a Bradford man died two days after being involved in a three-vehicle accident on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
The 38-year-old, who was the front seat passenger in a Volkswagen Passat, was injured in the collision which happened on the A65 outside Scalemire Farm, Newby, between Clapham and Ingleton, on Tuesday.
He was taken to the Preston Royal Infirmary, where he died yesterday.
The man driving the black Passat and the two rear-seat passengers, both women, suffered slight injuries. All three are also from Bradford.
Traffic Sergeant Hamish Halloway, of North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group, said: “If you witnessed the collision or were in the area of the incident at the time and saw any of the cars involved, I urge you to contact the police straightaway.”
Two air ambulances were called to the incident. Fire Service crews from Bentham, Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle attended.
They used hydraulic cutting gear, as two people were trapped in their vehicles, as well as various specialist tools and first aid equipment.
Police closed the road for more than eight hours following the accident which involved the Passat, a black Audi A4 estate and a black Skoda Fabia.
At the time of the collision the Passat was travelling from Settle to Ingleton and the Fabia and Audi were heading in the opposite direction.
The two people in the Fabia, both aged 56 and from nearby Low Bentham, suffered serious injuries.
The man driving the car was taken to Preston Royal Infirmary and the woman passenger went to Leeds General Infirmary. They both remain in hospital in a stable condition.
The driver of the Audi, a 48-year-old Keighley man, suffered minor injuries.
