Ilkley artist Laura Wallace is preparing for her first major exhibition in Yorkshire.
Laura has held a number of solo shows in London, but this is her first exhibition since returning to live in her native Yorkshire a couple of years ago.
“Yorkshire, together with the Orkneys where my husband Mark is from, has always been my spiritual home and the majority of paintings I will exhibiting will be Yorkshire scenes.
“Since returning I am inspired by the countryside, especially the beauty of the Dales through the seasons, from bluebell woods to snow scenes.”
Laura, whose work will be on display at the Chantry House Art Gallery in Ripley from November 1 until November 10, studied drama and theatre design at Exeter University before a diploma in interior design, leading to three years working for the Harrods Interior Design Team.
Strongly influenced by the Scottish Colourists, she regards Caddel, Hunter and Peploe as her favourite artists together with the Impressionists.
Her main themes are seascapes, flowers and landscapes and she works predominantly in oil.
