Bradford is a key target for the UK Independence Party, according to its deputy leader.
MEP Paul Nuttall said he believed the party could get councillors elected in Bradford next year, and seriously compete for a Parliamentary seat in 2015, as well as perform well in the district in the European elections.
Mr Nuttall told the Telegraph & Argus yesterday: “Bradford is a key target for us in the European elections.
“We have done well in rural areas, but have done poorly in cities like Bradford and Leeds.
“If we want to progress as a party we need to crack a political nut like Bradford.”
Mr Nuttall yesterday addressed a public meeting, said to be the largest ever held in the North by the party, at a Bradford hotel.
The event was hosted by Bradford businessman Amjad Bashir, UKIP’s spokesman for small and medium businesses.
