Children are often criticised for not climbing trees or getting muddy.
Entertainment is far more easily accessible with many preferring to play on their games consoles rather than find their own fun.
But next month a group of young teenagers will be able to go wild in the woods as part of an event that has been challenging their counterparts for 30 years.
The Lane Fox Challenge, on Sunday, October 6, at Parkwood Outdoors in Tong village, is offered to young people on their Duke of Edinburgh award and through Bradford Youth Service as a fun way to explore outdoors.
Russell Robinson, who has been involved in the challenge since its inception, said the event was similar to orienteering. “It creates team work and a physical challenge to people and it is a good social thing,” he said.
It is open to 14 to 25-year-olds.
