Boxer Amir Khan made a special guest appearance at a charity event in Keighley tonight and helped to raise thousands of pounds.

The exact total raised isn’t yet known, but organiser Razaq Hussain said a boxing glove signed by Khan had raised about £3,000.

Khan (pictured at the event), who turned up with a sizeable security team, helped out with a charity auction during the ‘A Night of Giving’ event at Victoria Hall.

Money raised is being donated to orphans in Pakistan via the Bait-ul-Yatamaa Orphanage, and people affected by the Syrian civil war via the Ummah Welfare Trust’s Syria Appeal.

Mr Hussain said the £15 per head event was a success and had sold out. As well as an auction there was also a dinner and performances by singers.
