Appeal is issued to help soldiers
9:00am Tuesday 10th September 2013 in News
The national charity Support Our Soldiers has launched its Christmas Parcel Appeal for 2013 and this year aims to send 12,500 welfare parcels to tri-service personnel serving on the front line.
Bradford area co-ordinator Wendy McCann is spearheading the campaign for the district.
She said: “The aim is that these parcels will be slightly different from the monthly care packages sent by SOS and contain more treat items to help the troops celebrate the festive period whilst they are overseas and separated from their families at this poignant time of year.
“We are always looking for individuals, companies, organisations or schools who wish to donate items or have a ‘parcel fillers collection box’ in their offices.
"Even the smallest donation makes a big difference to the morale of the troops serving in Afghanistan and other areas.”
Suggested parcel fillers include, chocolate, sweets, biscuits, crisps, nuts, chewing gum, cup-a soup, coffee, toiletries, stationery and festive items.
To get involved or make a donation, contact Wendy on Bradford@supportoursoldiers.co.uk or on (01274) 674176 or visit: supportoursoldiers.co.uk for further information.
