2:56pm Monday 9th September 2013 in News
Police today arrested a 33-year-old man suspected to have destroyed a section of wall at a church while drink-driving.
The incident happened shortly before 1am when a car hit a wall at Hall Green Baptist Church on Sun Street, Haworth.
Despite being badly damaged, the vehicle was driven away from the scene, leaving behind a partially collapsed wall.
The man was later arrested.
A police spokesman said yesterday: “At 00.54 this morning police were called to reports of a collision where a car is believed to have left the road and damaged a wall near to the junction of Brighouse Lane and Sun Street.
"The vehicle, which was badly damaged, is then thought to have left the area.
“A short time later a 33-year-old man was arrested from a nearby address on suspicion of drink driving and remains in police custody.”
