Celebrations as East Riddlesden Hall project come to an end
11:00am Monday 9th September 2013 in News
There will be a day of double celebrations at East Riddlesden Hall next Wednesday as two separate labours of love come to an end.
For the past three years dry stone wall volunteers, in partnership with Craven College, have been conserving and rebuilding a 300-metre wall on the Riverside Walk.
On September 11 the last stone will be put into place, and the wallers, staff and volunteers will celebrate with a traditional topping off ceremony, which will begin at 2pm and will be followed by a celebratory lunch.
On the same day, expert bodger Richard Law will be putting the final touches to and installing a wooden storytelling chair in the grounds at the hall.
He has been working on the chair for the past three months at his workshop in Strid Woods.
Inspired by the lambing chair in the kitchen at the hall, the chair will be used for storytelling sessions for young visitors.
