A 26-year-old man who twice tried to outrun a police pursuit vehicle in his Transit van has been jailed for 16 months and banned from driving for two years.
Michael Broadbent, of Tristram Avenue, West Bowling, Bradford, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on May 23 and again, while on bail, on July 26.
Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday that he twice accelerated away from the police late at night, jumping red lights and putting other road users at risk.
Broadbent also admitted two offences of failing to provide a specimen of breath and one of failing to answer to his bail.
The court heard he had been a cocaine addict at the time and was impulsive and foolish.
He was very remorseful and determined to lead an honest life in the future.
