Yorkshire Building Society gives grant to Shipley Stroke Group
11:00am Friday 6th September 2013 in News
Almost £400 has been donated to a community group for computer equipment so members can access the internet.
Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation gave £395 to Shipley Stroke Group (SSG) after a customer of the Society’s Shipley branch, Liz Riddiough, told staff about her husband’s involvement with the group after he had suffered a stroke.
The branch then made the request to Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation on Mrs Riddiough’s behalf.
The money has been used to buy a specialist laptop computer with a large screen that will help users with poor vision.
The joint chairman of SSG, Helen Galtress, said: “We are very grateful to Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation for this donation.
"It will really help Shipley Stroke Group members with their recovery and their interaction with the wider world.
"We are a small group with modest means and donations like this really help to improve the work being done.”
Assistant manager of the Shipley branch Louise Forbes said: “This is a fantastic local cause and one that we are proud to support.
"It is for organisations like Shipley Stroke Group that the Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation was established.”
