Family force Guiseley raiders to flee
2:34pm Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
Masked raiders armed with crowbars who attacked a parked Range Rover were forced to flee when they were challenged by three rugby players.
Paul Exley and his teenage sons sprang into action when they saw the three attackers smashing up the Range Rover in the forecourt of Farnell vehicle showroom in Guiseley.
Paul, 46, and sons James, 17, and David, 14, who all play for Aireborough RUFC, had been playing rugby when they called in to pick up a takeaway from the White Cross area of Guiseley on Saturday.
Paul said: “They were wearing black balaclavas and carrying crowbars. I jumped out of the car and ran down the road shouting and carrying on.”
A spokesman for Farnell said: “We are very grateful for local assistance, and it is good that the police response was so fast.”
A police spokesman said three men had been arrested. Two were released, and one was on police bail.
