Husband and wife on fraud charges
A newsagent has appeared at Bradford Crown Court alongside his wife, who is charged in connection with an alleged £2.3 million fraud.
Anthony Nickerson, 47, and Julie Nickerson, 54, both of Wade House Road, Shelf, where they run a newsagent’s shop, will stand trial on April 7.
Prosecutor Peter Hampton told the court yesterday the case was set to last seven days.
The couple must be back at the Crown Court on December 13 for a case management hearing when they will enter pleas to the charges they face.
Mr Hampton said Julie Nickerson was accused of committing a £2.3 million fraud against her former employer, JLA Ltd.
She is also charged with fraud against Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
Anthony Nickerson is accused of aiding his wife with bank transfers.
The couple’s bail was extended to the next hearing.
Judge Colin Burn made a new condition that they do not apply for any international travel documents.
The couple have already handed in their passports to the police.
