Support grows for campaign against steel steps at Harden beauty spot
9:00am Saturday 31st August 2013 in News
A Harden resident who started a campaign against steel steps installed at a village beauty spot said he has already gained plenty of public support.
Chris Thompson has called on Bradford Council to re-think its decision to site the steps near Goit Stock waterfall, describing them as an “absolute eyesore”.
The Council argues that the steps will mellow with age and are designed to make the public route safe and accessible.
Mr Thompson, who lives close to the waterfall, was so unhappy with the steps he set up a Facebook page – Goit Stock Waterfall removal of ladder – which now has more than 250 ‘likes’.
He wants the Council to replace the steps with something more in keeping and sympathetic to the character of the surrounding scenery.
