Sweet success for apple crop
7:00am Saturday 31st August 2013 in News
Morrisons is introducing more British apple varieties into its stores after the prolonged sunny summer produced a sweeter crop than last year.
The growing conditions are also expected to result in the British apple season being extended.
The Bradford-based grocer said its growers reported an increase in the sugar levels, juice content and redness of the skin thanks to the combination of high temperatures and sunshine during June, July and August. Morrisons English apple varieties include new ranges such as Envy, Crimson Crisp and Galmac.
