Dog walkers urged to band together in clear-up

Dog walkers in part of Bradford could be about to go green thanks to an armband scheme ‘on loan’ from a Scottish council.
Councillor Michael Walls (Conservative, Queensbury) got in touch with Falkirk Council after hearing how it was signing up responsible dog owners to wear the green armbands whenever they are out as a way of encouraging others to follow suit and pick up their dogs’ waste.
“It’s about setting a good example and in a friendly way encouraging others to be responsible too by giving out plastic bags. The problem is that all dog walkers get tagged the same when there’s dog mess about and that’s not fair. There are those among us who are responsible and always clear up. The idea is to show we pledge to take cleaning up seriously and want others to do the same.
“Queensbury is not particularly any worse than any other community when it comes to dog mess but it can be a problem in Foxhill Park. There are people known not to clean up and these people can and should be reported to the Council.”
