Keighley councillor Jan Smithies has run for election in the past – but now she’s running for charity.
She has signed up for a fun run to support disabled athletes through the Lord Mayor of Bradford’s Appeal.
The 3km and 5km races will raise money for Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure, one of the chosen charities of the Lord Mayor and Keighley councillor Khadim Hussain.
Coun Smithies, who represents the Keighley West ward on Bradford Council, will run alongside Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure athlete Stephen Thorne.
She said: “I got a hip injury a while ago so this will be my return to running. My aim is simply to finish!”
The fun run is at the Marley sports track, Keighley, on Saturday, September 14, with registration at 10am. Contact Steve Farley or Andrea Lane on (01274) 437093 to enter.
