Heckmondwike man, 44, dies in Cleckheaton crash

A man has died after apparently losing control of his car and crashing into a tree in the early hours of this morning in Cleckheaton.
The 44-year-old motorist was travelling along Spen Lane when the incident happened at 1.26am.
The man, who was from Heckmondwike, suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene.
Police said the crash happened after the man’s blue Ford Focus apparently went out of control on a bend and left the road before hitting a tree.
Spen Lane was closed for a number of hours while investigation work took place.
The Major Collision Enquiry Team (MCET) would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash.
Anyone who saw the incident, or who has any information which might be able to help police with their inquiries, should contact the MCET on 101.
