7:00am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
People across Bradford are being urged to carry on voting for a Bradford girl who is battling a genetic disorder to help her win a £1,000 holiday in a national competition to find a Little Hero.
Nine-year-old Katie Smith was named as a finalist in the Little Heroes competition.
While public votes have been rolling in since the T&A published an article last week, more are needed to make Katie’s dream come true.
Katie, of Idle, was diagnosed with the disorder in 2009 when she was five. Since then she has had four tumours removed and deals with chronic back pain on a day-to-day basis. She will undergo more major surgery in October to straighten her spine.
The competition Katie has entered is run by pub chain Fayre & Square and children's play centre Wacky Warehouse.
Katie’s mum, Davina Smith, said: “Katie needs to be in the top three when public voting via Facebook closes on September 6.”
