Disney dream trip
9:00am Tuesday 27th August 2013 in News
A group of disabled children are today setting off on the trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris.
Bradford-based charity Fulfil The Wish has raised £25,000 in the last year to finance the five-day break. The money has come from local businesses, fundraising events and grants.
The children, aged between six and 20, have a range of lifelong and some life-limiting disabilities. They will be accompanied by parents and siblings.
Charity founder Mary Appleton said: “It means a lot to them. I don’t think it would be possible for any of them to go on a trip like this on their own, without our help.
“For some it provides practical support, for some it is financial, while others just want to be with other people. They feel more comfortable and it’s a chance to meet new friends and get to know people.”
She added: “We do other trips, but Disney remains our big thing.”
