A community programme aimed at bringing together youth groups from across Europe has won £15,000 funding from the European Union.
The European UK Ambassadors CIC in Heckmondwike, run by court interpreter Ghufrana Qureshi, is running a youth exchange with youth groups from the Czech Republic, Romania and the UK with the cash.
The young people have been working on the project called ‘Think Outside The Box’, working in and around Bradford, learning about film-making and editing and exploring similarities and differences among cultures and religions.
They have visited mosques, synagogues and Sikh temples to understand the differences between the different cultures and religions.
UK Ambassadors CIC won the funding through the Youth in Action programme managed in the UK by the British Council and funded by the European Union.
Ghufrana Qureshi, the founder of European UK Ambassadors CIC, said “I’m so pleased to be organising the International Youth Exchange.
“The young people will learn about differences and similarities in faith and culture.”
