Keighley schools could play a part in Tour de France
8:00am Friday 23rd August 2013 in News
Giant artworks by Keighley schoolchildren could be seen by millions of people during TV coverage of the Tour de France.
The images in schoolyards would be seen from the air as TV crews in helicopters follow the riders through Keighley next summer.
Students could also perform dance and drama for the crowds as they wait for the cycle race to pass through the town.
School projects were among the ideas put forward by a group meeting in Keighley to make the most of the town’s involvement in the Tour de France.
Cycling enthusiast Frank O'Dwyer, who chaired the gathering, this week talked with a senior Bradford Council education officer, and will approach schools when the new term starts in September. He wants to help schools tap into the £1 million fund for arts projects in the 100 days leading up to the July race.
