Students prepare for lift-off in hovercraft challenge
8:00am Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
Students from the United Arab Emirates designed and raced hovercraft as part of a project at the University of Bradford.
The exciting challenge was part of an engineering summer school that is taking place until August 26.
The hovercraft project saw the students challenged to design and build their machines in a day, have it tested, and then enter it in ‘The Great Race’.
As part of their visit to the university, the students have also built rocket-powered cars with engineers from Cummins Turbo Technologies and visited Saltaire, York, and Drax Power Station.
Professor John Allport, from Cummins, said: “Cummins Turbo Technologies is committed to engaging and inspiring the next generation as they are the future of the engineering industry. As a global company, we are pleased to work with our partners at the University of Bradford to extend this encouragement to their guests from the United Arab Emirates.”
