Bradford actor Chris Fountain sacked from Corrie over videos

Bradford actor Chris Fountain has been fired from Coronation Street after rapping online about rape.
Mr Fountain, of Wibsey, who played Tommy Duckworth had his contract terminated because of “unacceptable comments”.
The 25-year-old was suspended from the show last week after his online alter-ego The Phantom was revealed.
An ITV spokesman said yesterday: “Chris Fountain’s contract with ITV has been terminated as a result of the unacceptable comments he made in a number of online clips.”
The video clips provoked anger from campaigners who were furious at Mr Fountain’s “complete lack of respect for women”.
After he was suspended, Mr Fountain said he was “deeply ashamed” of the lyrics in his raps and issued an apology.
The raps, by Mr Fountain’s masked rapper persona The Phantom, appeared on YouTube and featured the star delivering expletive-laden performances with themes of violence and rape.
The clips, no longer available to view on the video website, featured the former Hollyoaks star wearing a Halloween mask, miming stabbing motions, and rapping lyrics such as “rape a b***h on her birthday”, according to reports.
Before Mr Fountain’s sacking, a Coronation Street spokesman had branded the language used and views expressed in the video as “totally unacceptable”.
The actor was suspended while bosses conducted an investigation.
In a statement last night Mr Fountain said: “I completely understand that ITV had no choice but to terminate my contract today. I have had two wonderful years playing Tommy Duckworth with only happy memories of my time on Coronation Street.
“I am mortified that I have brought so much embarrassment to my colleagues and employers these last few days. My biggest regret however is not to do with losing my job, but that I have hurt and let down so many people including those in a vulnerable situation and I am so very deeply ashamed of this.
“I am also mortified to have put my mother, grandad and girlfriend through the last few days which they are hurt and bewildered by and so do not deserve. I am so sorry.
“Once again to everyone who I have let down and hurt. I am deeply sorry.”
Mr Fountain joined Coronation Street in 2011, playing the role of mechanic Tommy Duckworth. He previously played Justin Burton in Channel Four soap Hollyoaks from 2003 to 2009.
