Engineering fun at summer school
United Arab Emirates students will build rocket-powered cars at an engineering summer school starting today at the University of Bradford.
The 45 students are taking part in unique projects with engineers from Cummins Turbo Technologies including building hovercrafts in a day-long project before entering them into The Great Race at the end of the event.
Professor John Allport from Cummins said “Cummins Turbo Technologies is committed to engaging and inspiring the next generation as they are the future of the engineering industry. As a global company, we are pleased to work with our partners at the University of Bradford to extend this encouragement to their guests from the UAE.”
The summer school aims inspire students about engineering and science and give them a chance to learn in a different cultural context.
Alongside the activities the students will be also visiting Saltaire, have a trip to the National Media Museum, a visit to York and a Civic Reception with the Lord Mayor of Bradford Khadim Hussain on Friday at 2.30pm.
The programme also includes a visit to Drax Power Station and the Nuclear Power Station at Heysham near Morecambe.
