Traffic lights 'not needed' at proposed Denholme Road housing site
Highway engineers have said they are unlikely to make a U-turn on plans for traffic lights on a dangerous Denholme road.
Denholme Town Council had asked Bradford Council officers to reconsider plans to improve traffic on New Road as part of a soon-to-be-decided planning application for new housing.
The development of 32 houses on a site off the road were initially going to include traffic lights, but highways officers advised potential developers, Bailey Bros Builders, to ditch the lights and include road markings instead.
In response, John Rowley, Bradford Council’s principal engineer, highway development control said: “The professional opinion of our engineers is that traffic signals are not needed.
“The layout of the junction would require three phase signals rather than the usual two and this would increase potential delays.”
