Horsforth MP Stuart Andrew welcomes green space ruling
5:31pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
Following an application by Horsforth Town Council, the land between the Old Mill Beck and Leeds and Harrogate railway line has been designated as part of the Neighbourhood Area which will ensure that it is not subject to development throughout the life of the neighbourhood plan.
Mr Andrew said: “Far too much of our green belt and green field land is under threat from development and while I shall continue to fight to save our land, I am pleased that, in this instance, this space, along with its wildlife, will be safe for future generations to enjoy.”
Dawn Collins, Horsforth Town councillor, added: "We need to keep fighting to keep all of our green fields, whether in green belt or not. There are plenty of brown field sites in Leeds that the developers already have permission to develop.
“Even the small pockets of green land are important. They are a place where local people can enjoy fresh air and leisure activities, even if it is just walking the dog.
“Horsforth and Rawdon are beautiful places to live and we need to do our very best to keep them this way.”
