A councillor has hailed four schoolgirls as a “credit to our community” after they raised £125 for charity by setting up a lemonade stand on a drive way on Holme Grove in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
Councillor Jackie Whiteley (Con, Wharfedale) was walking her dog when she came across the girls and their lemonade stand.
“I soon learned they were raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Burley-Tereli Friendship Trust as Burley-in--Wharfedale is twinned with a village in Mali, West Africa,” said Coun Whiteley.
Ten-year-old Elizabeth Walker, ten, Eloise Wood, nine, Evie Swanson, eight and Eve Hazhabrafkam, eight, had set up their stall on a drive way and had produced a menu of homemade refreshments and activities for passers-by.
