Burglar left used condom behind
7:00am Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
A homeless burglar made himself thoroughly at home when he sneaked into a woman’s flat and helped himself to an energy drink and a bowl of cereal.
Stefan Sivak, 21, also dumped his dirty clothes in the wardrobe and left a used condom behind.
But he took with him a laptop computer, a camera, a phone and jewellery of sentimental value, Bradford Crown Court heard.
When he was trapped by DNA found on the drink bottle, Sivak told the police he was sleeping rough in a nearby park and it must have been blown into the flat by the wind.
Sivak, who was held in custody after his arrest, pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court yesterday to burgling the flat in Oak Avenue, Manningham, Bradford, on July 18.
Tom Rushbrooke, Sivak’s barrister, said he had been remanded in custody by Bradford and Keighley magistrates. He had no previous convictions for burglary.
Judge Peter Benson said he was considering sentencing Sivak to a community order with a suspended jail sentence but he needed an address for him first.
Judge Benson adjourned the case until August 28 for the probation service to make inquiries about hostel accommodation or for Sivak to provide a friend or relative’s address.
