Petrolheads are gearing up for a car show to remember this weekend.

The eighth annual Bradford Classic will be held at City Park on Saturday and Sunday, and the focus will be on the district’s proud car manufacturing history.

The show will have the theme Made in Bradford, and will feature a selection of Jowett cars, International Harvester classic tractors and Scott motorcycles.

Individuals and clubs will be displaying more than 150 performance and classic cars at the free event.

Live music, a continental market and children’s entertainment will also be on offer.

Visitors will be able to look around a Ferrari 360 Modena customised by Bradford-based EnKahnz and film buffs will get the opportunity to get up close to a DeLorean, the time machine star of the Back to the Future movies.

On Sunday, Subaru fans can see Colin McRae’s Subaru Impreza 555, which helped him win the World Rally Manufacturers’ Championship in 1996.

Also on show will be a 1976 Rolls Royce MK1 Silver Shadow and a 1960 Berkeley three-wheeler sports car.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Coun Khadim Hussain, yesterday looked round one of the performance cars which will go on show.

He said: “This year’s Bradford Classic is going to be fantastic and I encourage anyone who is interested in cars to come down and enjoy the show.”

Jowett was an Idle-based manufacturer of light cars and light commercial vehicles from 1906 to 1954.

It was founded in 1901 by brothers Benjamin and William Jowett, with Arthur V Lamb.

Jowett sold its factory to International Harvester, who made tractors at the site until the 1980s.

The Shipley-based Scott Motorcycle Company was a producer of motorcycles and light engines for industry. The firm was founded by Alfred Angas Scott in 1908 as the Scott Engineering Company in Bradford, and produced motorcycles until 1978.

The Bradford Classic runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday in City Park.
