A one-day music festival this weekend is set to be a taster for a bigger event next year.

Live at the Hive takes place on Saturday at Bradford and Bingley Sports Club in Bingley.

Special guests are alternative rock band InMe who have recorded five successful studio albums which spawned a number of Top 40 UK singles.

Event chairman Glen Shaw said: “It’s a bit of a coup getting a band as big as InMe for our first event and hopefully they will attract a big crowd for their set.

“We want this to be a success as next year we plan a full three-day festival.

“We provided camping for the Bingley Festival and our facilities are second to none.

“With 22 bands over two stages, fairground rides, food stalls and bars, this is fun for all the family.

“A marquee is hosting the main stage where InMe will play a mid-afternoon set, around which we’ve wrapped a varied range of music from local talent and further afield.”

Bands include Headcount from Oxford, local punk legends The Negatives and upcoming Monster Jaw.

Mr Shaw said: “For more family-oriented fun, we have cover bands like Splash Alley and Voodoo Soup and the main stage is finished by Fans – who include former members of Bradford favourites Redwire.”

A second stage will be in the clubhouse and will showcase more acoustic acts for part of the day.

“Local punk buskers Broken Hearts Club Band, Irish singer-songwriter and festival favourite Dan Donnelly and The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican will rock us gently alongside more ferocious acts like Chasing Dragons and a spoken-word session by local poet and artist Joolz Denby,” Mr Shaw said.

Indianic, a rock band from Wilsden, will be doing an acoustic set.

The night is topped off by another acoustic set by ‘Bono’ and the ‘Edge’ from Bingley’s New2 who will play covers into the night.

Doors open 11.30am with first band on at noon.

Tickets are £15 for the day and are available from liveatthehive.co.uk.
