A Bradford judge ordered a private company to reveal forensic results in a sex case within 48 hours.
Bradford Crown Court heard a defence expert had requested four forensic exhibits and DNA profiling results, vital to the case, from LGC Forensics, but it had been asked to enter into a credit agreement before the results could be supplied.
They were needed urgently with the trial date approaching.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC yesterday ordered that the results be supplied within 48 hours. He said: “This is yet another foreseeable consequence, as with the interpreters, of changing a working system to try to effect, presumably, economic gain, to the detriment of the court process."
