Five boys aged 12 and 13 have been arrested on suspicion of raping a young girl.

The boys have all been released on police bail as officers continue to investigate the allegation in Rastrick, Brighouse.

A police spokesman said: “Police are investigating reports of a rape allegation made by a young girl against five boys aged 12 and 13 years old in Calderdale.

“All five suspects were arrested and have since been released on bail as enquiries continue.”

Rastrick conservative councillor Chris Pillai said this morning: "All three ward councillors are aware of the allegation and are trying to get more information so we can respond. The community is in shock."

West Yorkshire Police press office has not revealed the exact location of the alleged incident, when it happened or the age of the alleged victim.
