The Telegraph & Argus Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal came into bloom at a Bradford College’s first summer fair.

Challenge College chose to support our £1m fundraising campaign at its family fun day, which included stalls selling items such as jewellery, cakes and clothing, as well as a bouncy castle, mendhi and other activities.

Pupils raised cash towards our appeal by shaking buckets, collecting proceeds from internal stalls and charging companies to have their own stalls at the event.

Money was also collected for the Disasters Emergency Committee to help people in Syria.

We announced the T&A Bradford Crocus Cancer Appeal with the University, Yorkshire Cancer Research and the Sovereign Health Care Trust last month.

We hope to raise £1m to buy researchers at the University’s Institute of Cancer Therapeutics a new mass spectrometer, which could herald a breakthrough in developing new, less toxic cancer treatments which target tumours without the side-effects of chemotherapy.

If any other schools would like to get involved in the appeal, contact us on (01274) 705295.
