Bosom Friends, Bradford’s Support group for women living with or beyond breast cancer, is welcoming Norma Russell to its July meeting.
Norma was Bradford’s first specialist breast care nurse in 1986, working with those having treatment at both St Luke’s and Bradford Royal Infirmary. She understood how important emotional and psychological support were in addition to medical interventions.
Norma initiated the now annual fashion show – the first in the country – with the message that there is life after breast cancer.
In 2003, Norma was awarded the MBE for services to nursing, and is now retired. Bosom Friends holds meetings at 7pm on the third Wednesday of each month at the Bradford Cancer Support Centre, on Smith Lane, at the back of the BRI. The meeting is at 7pm on Wednesday, July 17, all welcome. For further details, call (01274) 674381.
