A team of eye specialists based at Bradford’s St Luke’s Hospital has been nominated for a national award after praise from patients.
Faruque Ghanchi, consultant ophthalmic surgeon, and the Macular Clinic team are in the running for the ‘clinical service of the year’ title in the Macular Society’s Awards for Excellence.
Mr Ghanchi said: “This is a great honour and we feel incredibly humbled with this recognition of our work.”
Raymond Crampton, a patient who nominated the team, added: “The whole staff from reception through the various eye tests to seeing either Mr Ghanchi or one of his consultants make my monthly visits as pleasant as possible.”
The team’s nomination will now be considered by judges, who will decide on the winners and present them with their awards at the Society’s annual London conference on September 28.
