A Keighley councillor has been reassured that efforts are being made to sell a derelict pub in his ward.

Keith Dredge has spoken with the company that owns the former Timothy Taylor pub on Braithwaite Avenue.

He was told that the company was also keen to see the building – last open as the Braithwaite Tavern – brought back into use.

Coun Dredge, who represents Keighley West ward, has campaigned for several months for action at the site.

He said the rundown building was an eyesore in an area surrounded by well-kept pensioners’ gardens and modern primary schools.

Coun Dredge said “The owners of the pub have had it on the market. They’re trying to do something with it, free their assets so someone can do something useful.”
