A councillor says he is “increasingly concerned” about the issues arising from planning applications that are submitted for developments that have already been completed.
Coun Malcolm Sykes (Con, Thornton and Allerton) is worried about the volume of retrospective planning applications and wants to know more about action taken when such applications are refused.
Bradford Council has received 313 retrospective planning applications in 2010, 293 in 2011 and 290 in 2012. Of the 896 applications, 274 were refused.
Coun Sykes said: “I am getting increasingly concerned about the number of applications that are coming in retrospectively which then get built outside the specification and we do not know what happens then.”
Council leader Councillor Dave Green said all retrospective applications were dealt with on their merits.
