My worst nightmare before Barnet’s fixture with Torquay was us being in the League Two relegation zone having suffered a crushing loss in a relegation six-pointer.

The one thing I did expect, though, was to return to my house that night having seen a game of football.

It was about 1.30pm when news started filtering through to the club coach I was on that there was a chance of the game being postponed.

Everyone on the coach laughed when this was announced believing this to be a joke. No-one had been notified of such an event potentially occurring.

The late timing made the statement all the more comical. When we realised that this supposed 'joke' was in fact true, we were all bemused, frustrated and angry.

Judging by the state of the pitch the postponement was perhaps the right decision.

The thing that rankles was the late timing of the decision and lack of communication regarding a possible postponement.

Everyone was stuck in Torquay with the main attraction and all plans made disrupted and ruined. Many fans had gone to Torquay for the weekend especially for the game.

Plenty of new faces were on the packed fan's coach in anticipation of such a crunch match. All of these fans had a wasted day.

With social media a commodity for the majority of league clubs, it is fair to ask why Torquay United did not inform fans earlier that there was a possibility of a postponement or that heavy rain was falling onto the pitch.

The dour mood on the coach on the way back did not change with news of other scores filtering through constantly.

A shock win for York City over Northampton Town and AFC Wimbledon's draw with Exeter City puts us deeper into the mix. Our away following will be significantly reduced on Tuesday when the match will take place.

Many fans - like myself unfortunately - will understandably be unable to travel such a long distance on a weekday.

This will see a greatly reduced presence and atmosphere from the away end that would have been expected on Saturday.

Avoiding to Torquay United in the rescheduled match on Tuesday is imperative.

A win would see us go up to 18th while a loss would see us drop into 23rd. Saturday was a day I will look back with major disappointment and dissatisfaction.

Making such a long journey for an overpriced and tasteless Burger King, instead of watching Barnet, is something I wouldn’t wish on any fan!
