Yorkshire fought back on the second day of their LV= County Championship division one game against Sussex at Headingley but Ed Joyce's side were still able to build a powerful lead of 260.

Sussex were bowled out for 356, with skipper Joyce making 92 and Ben Brown contributing a superb 93 off 95 balls with 14 fours and a six.

Yorkshire seamer Jack Brooks took four wickets in 15 balls to finish with figures of 4-76 on his Championship debut for the White Rose. This represented a recovery for the ex-Northants man who had 0-60 off 9.4 overs at one stage.

The seamer who held the attack together was Ryan Sidebottom, who had last man Monty Panesar lbw for one and took 4-72 off 21.5 overs.

In Yorkshire's second innings, Stuart Magoffin removed Alex Lees, caught by Chris Jordan at slip for a single before bad light stopped play with Yorkshire on 27-1.
