Primal Scream, The Cribs and The Wonder Stuff are the first acts to be confirmed for this year’s Bingley Music Live.

The annual festival, now in its seventh year, will be held at Myrtle Park between Friday, 30 August and Sunday, September 1.

Primal Scream have established a ferocious reputation for their live performances, which are held together by charismatic frontman Bobby Gillespie.

The Glasgow band helped to shape an entire generation with the release of the Mercury Music Prize winning Screamadelica in 1991, which combined acid house with indie rock.

They’ll be performing hits from their extensive back catalogue as well as tracks from their tenth album, More Light, to be released in May. The Cribs have been hailed by Q magazine as “the biggest cult band in the UK”. The Wakefield trio have enjoyed ten years of producing infectious indie tunes and working with acts such as Johnny Marr and Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo. The three brothers recently collected the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Prize at the NME Awards.

The Wonder Stuff will perform an exclusive Yorkshire festival set in support of Oh No… it’s The Wonder Stuff, their first new collection of original material in seven years.

Councillor Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Leisure, said: “I am thrilled at the high standard of acts confirmed for this year’s Bingley Music Live. With more great names to follow, I would strongly recommend that people act fast and buy a ticket now to avoid being disappointed.” Bingley Music Live, organised by Bradford Council, is also supporting up-and-coming talent including singer-songwriter Natasha Haws, whose single Stranger was picked as a BBC Introducing Discovery track at the end of last year. She has also been selected for The Sun’s One to Watch 2013 list.

Holy Moly And The Crackers are a Newcastle indie-folk group that, despite only forming last January, have already released an album and performed at the Hopfarm Festival alongside Bob Dylan and Ray Davies.

Newcomers Rose & The Howling North recently released their debut album, Cuckoo. Rose grew up in Wakefield in a house surrounded by music: her father played in folk luminaries Hedgehog Pie while an uncle was in Lindisfarne. Last year’s festival, which was shortlisted for the UK Festival Awards Best Medium Sized Festival, had performances from Jake Bugg, Razorlight and Nero.

Three-day weekend tickets are available for £45 (plus booking fee) from www.bingleymusiclive.com/tickets or by calling 0871 220 0260.
