Parish councils were attacked at a meeting of Bradford Council last night.
Bingley Conservative Councillor John Pennington slammed parish councils that hiked up their precept and demanded they have some sort of accountability.
He targeted Keighley and Baildon parish councils.
But he was shot down by Independent Christopher Greaves (Wharfedale) and Council leader David Green.
The Council voted in favour of preserving the current system for parish councils and independence.
