Return of Happening bands to favourite concert in Haworth

Old favourites Do Miss America headline the next Groovy Happening concert with an extra-long danceable set.

The Bradford band will play heartfelt blues rock with a flavour of “Lebowski cool Americana country blues”.

The band took inspiration from acts like Ryan Adams, Guns and Roses and Soul Asylum, as well as traditional delta blues.

A spokesman said: “Do Miss America effortlessly blend personal lyrics of heartbreak and loss with a triumphalist take on optimism and good humour.”

Support comes from two bands and a solo musician appearing for the first time at the Happening, in the Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth.

Dave McKinley is an acoustic singer-songwriter who formerly played with Scary Uncle and is preparing to release his second solo album.

Plato’s Jacuzzi play acoustic indie rock and alternative songs with titles like Delirious Platter, Codpiece, The Last Beagle and Y Fronts.

And Waiting for Wednesday are the Bradford folk duo who are said to offer a “tidal wave of vocal harmonies and a sprinkle of country twang”.

The concert is on April 13. Doors open 7.30pm, admission £3, proceeds to Manorlands.
