Bradford Council has postponed the Reflections creative arts festival event scheduled for tomorrow, where Mind the Gap were due to perform Irresistible as the headlining event.

The blanket of white that has descended on the City Park in central Bradford, and forecast of freezing conditions overnight, means it will not be safe for audiences and participants.

Mind the Gap are already working closely with Bradford Council to set a new date to ensure that Irresistible comes to City Park in the near future, and that local people will get to see this atmospheric show.

Here's the latest Met Office report for the next 24 hours for this area:

A band of heavy rain spreading northwards across the UK has turned to snow in many parts, with some heavy and persistent snowfall likely to develop through the period into Saturday morning. High ground may see snow accumulations of 20-40 cm in places, with drifting and blizzard conditions due to the strong to gale force southeasterly winds. At lower levels, 10-15 cm of snow is likely in places. The public should be aware of the potential for severe disruption to transport and to power supplies.

And it's just been confirmed that the Bradford City vs Bristol Rovers fixture tomorrow is definitely off.

2:15pm

Our Bradford City reporter Simon Parker writes that the Bantams have asked the Football League for permission to postpone tomorrow's home game against Bristol Rovers 24 hours early.

With heavy snow hitting the district - and more on the way - there is little chance of the match going ahead.

Delays to flights are continuing at Leeds-Bradford Airport but the runway has now been cleared of snow and opened at about 11am.

Passengers are still being advised to check their flights with their airlines although officials at the airport are not expecting to have to close the runway again.

Snow has shut 170 schools across the district so far because of concerns over pupils and staff safety.

Early hours and morning snow has made it a cautious start for motorists and commuters venturing out into another wintry blast with temperatures just rising above freezing.

In recent years the big events the council organise which the general public aren't chuffed with them due to seeing them as luxurys rather than essentials, seem to being hit more than expected by bad weather. hmm anyone know what odds the bookies are offering on bad weather on the 28 April ;-)

Snow started falling here in BD4 at about 3am, and is still falling heavily now, so much for those who told me the snow wouldnt last and not to worry.
Once again we can't get out of our street, and service vehicles can't come down it because it won't be gritted as it's not classed a priority.

There will soon be fires up and down the country for you to warm yourself on. If we're going down I can assure the right wing "I'm alright Jacks" that we WILL all go down together.
