A 48-year-old man is behind bars awaiting a long prison sentence for sexually abusing two girls.

David Cameron was said to have put candles and rose petals in his bathroom in a bid to seduce one of his young victims.

Cameron, of Bracken Bank Way, Keighley, was convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court yesterday of sexual activity with the girls, then aged 13 and 15.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Robert Bartfield and told to expect a substantial jail sentence.

Cameron will be sentenced on April 22 after the probation service has assessed the level of danger he poses to young women.

The judge locked him up for fear he might abscond.

Cameron was found guilty of sexual activity with the 13-year-old girl in the grounds of a school in Keighley in 2009.

Prosecutor Giles Bridge said Cameron kissed the child before having sex with her.

He was also convicted of having sex with a girl of 15 at his home in 2011.

The jury was told he abused her after they had been drinking vodka and whisky.

Cameron was convicted of four offences of sexual activity with the second girl.

He was cleared by the jury of two further allegations of sexual activity with a child and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, relating to the same two girls.

The jury was unable to reach verdicts on four more similar offences and Cameron was acquitted of those on the direction of the judge.

Mr Bridge told the jury the 13-year-old girl agreed to meet Cameron in the school grounds after she had an argument with her parents.

After he had sex with her, he warned her not to tell anyone as her family would get hurt.

The girl’s mother heard her having inappropriate conversations with Cameron on her mobile phone, Mr Bridge said.

Cameron’s abuse of the second girl came to light when one of her friends reported it to her mother and a learning mentor at her school.
