Six held as armed police respond to incident in Bradford

Six men were in police custody yesterday after armed police responded to reports that a group were seen carrying knives, metal bars and sticks in Great Horton Road, Bradford.

Officers also received a report of a robbery at a newsagents.

Both incidents happened in Great Horton Road at about 7pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said armed officers were deployed to the area with officers from the dog section.

Six men were arrested on suspicion of robbery and affray and remained in police custody last night.

Officers carried out patrols in the area throughout the night to reassure the public.

Police believe the incident was witnessed by a large number of people and officers would like to speak to anyone with information.
