Haworth Fairtrade group plans village sculpture
8:00am Wednesday 20th March 2013 in News
Haworth’s Fairtrade group is investigating whether a permanent sculpture can be installed in the village.
The organisation was set up 10 years ago and Haworth is the world’s first officially recognised Fairtrade village.
Speaking at the March meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council, group spokesman Rita Verity said the artwork would mark the 10-year anniversary of the village’s Fairtrade status. She said Haworth Central Park has been suggested as a potential location.
She introduced councillors to Haworth-based sculptor Craig Dyson, who would be commissioned to work on this project.
People will be consulted on the scheme and an Awards for All application will be submitted to obtain funding.
