Female robber leaves woman, 80, suffers head injury after bag snatch

A Good Samaritan chased a female robber who caused an 80-year-old woman to fall and bang her head in Shipley.

The victim had her handbag pulled from her shoulder as she walked past the library on Well Croft with her husband.

A member of the public followed the robber, who was wearing a Bradford City jacket, to the Hockney pub and the handbag was handed back. However, when it was returned to the victim, it was discovered a purse had been stolen from inside.

The robber was a white woman who had brown hair in a ponytail. She was freckled, about 5’6” tall, and wearing a Bradford City bomber jacket, jeans and trainers.

The victim, who had just parked a Honda Civic in the Asda car park, was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.

Anyone with information about the robbery, which happened on Monday at about 4.20pm, is asked to contact Detective Constable Nicola Whitley at Airedale and Bradford North CID on 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
