Patients to complete satisfaction survey at Airedale Hospital
6:00am Wednesday 20th March 2013 in News
Patients leaving Airedale Hospital will be asked whether they would recommend it to friends or family members needing similar treatment.
The question will soon be put to all patients being discharged from adult inpatient wards or accident and emergency.
Their responses will be central to the ‘Friends and Family Test’ that will be introduced by every hospital from April 1.
Test results will be published on the NHS Choices website from July, allowing patients to compare NHS organisations and choose where to get the best care.
Patients at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust will be asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire on a postcard and post it in a box on each ward. In A&E, they will be asked to do the same at a touch-screen kiosk.
Karen Dunwoodie, patient experience lead at Airedale, said: “Feedback from the Friends and Family Test will provide us with another way of finding out if patients are happy with their care.”
From October, the test will also be used on maternity wards.
