Keighley gala chiefs finalise plans

Keighley Gala bosses are finalising plans for this year’s extravaganza.
A revamped procession is planned at the August 11 event, with a new route.
“It is a compromise between the road layout of the town and how many people we can get to marshal it,” said gala chairman Andrew Jackson. “We need some feedback from businesses that may be affected.” It is proposed the procession assembles at Spring Gardens Lane then heads along North Street, into Cavendish Street, along Lawkholme Lane, Bradford Street, Bingley Street and then left into Bradford Road before finishing at Victoria Park. Attractions at the park will include a “beach” for traditional seaside activities such as donkey rides and building sandcastles.
